Hospital Cancer Registry of the Hassan II University Hospital in Fez
The strategy of the fight against cancer pursued by the Hassan II University Hospital of Fez aims to meet the health needs of a population of more than four million inhabitants in the Fez-Meknes region.
In accordance with the National Cancer Control Plan and thanks to the commitment and will of the CHU Hassan II Administration, after the inauguration of the new Oncology Hospital in 2012, the teachers-researchers and clinicians decided to set up a hospital cancer registry at the CHU Hassan II (RHCF). The establishment of this registry will make it possible to meet a need for epidemiological surveillance of cancers, to better know the epidemiological profile of cancer at the level of the catchment area of the CHU of Fez as well as to contribute to the planning and the setting of priorities in the fight against cancer at the level of the region the region.
The registry’s activities are carried out by a permanent operational team plus research teachers who provide scientific support.
The RHCF collects clinical and demographic data on new cases diagnosed and/or treated at the clinical and medical-technical services of the Hassan II University Hospital in Fez. This data collection is carried out in two main steps. The first step is the extraction of cancer data from the HOSIX information system, which is fed continuously and in real time by the doctors of the various hospital departments. The second step is the verification and inclusion of cancer cases based on the confirmation of the diagnosis, the date of diagnosis and the date of the first treatment at the Hassan II University Hospital.
The Research and Development department in collaboration with the IT department and the research teachers ensure the management of the RHCF. All these efforts and dedication have enabled the registry team to give a first report which presents the data of cancers diagnosed and/or treated at the Hassan II University Hospital of Fez for the year 2017.
